James Taylor hopes his move to Nottinghamshire will act as a springboard towards future Test honours with England.
The diminutive right-handed batsman, who will captain England Lions on their upcoming tour of Bangladesh in the New Year, has finally sealed his much-anticipated move to Trent Bridge from East Midlands neighbours Leicestershire.
It is a move which will give Taylor the opportunity to test himself against the best bowlers in the country in Division One of the LV Country Championship next summer.
Taylor, 21, has made the majority of his 4,534 first-class runs in the second tier of the domestic game, however he hopes a successful career with Notts will propel him towards an England Test call-up.
He told
Sky Sports News HD: "I'm delighted to have made the move and I'm looking forward to the start of the season. It's taken a while but I'm delighted it's all sorted now and I can concentrate on my cricket.
"I'm looking for a new challenge and aspiring to play against the best bowlers in the country, showing I can make the step up to Division One and showing the selectors I can score my runs against the best bowlers in the country.

"It's an amazing ground (Trent Bridge) and it's up there with the best in the country. The facilities are quality, the indoor school is great and the atmosphere from when I've played here before is great. I've got some fond memories of playing here.
"I must say a massive thank you to Leicestershire and all the support they've given me. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for them."
Trent Bridge often presents a fascinating contest between bat and ball and Taylor recognises that any England call will not be forthcoming should he fail to impress with his new county.
"The most important thing for me at the moment though is not to focus on England. I think you can get distracted by that," he added.
"It's important I don't do that because I know it is easy to get carried away with the England thing.
"I just have to work on making runs for Notts. They've given me this opportunity.
"These pitches will certainly suit my game more. Nice pace and bounce here at Trent Bridge and it will be a nice challenge."
