Billy Godleman has extended his stay at Derbyshire by signing a new contract that will keep him at the Division Two club until the end of 2016.
The opener, who joined the county two years ago, has enjoyed an impressive start to the season scoring 235 runs in three games while registering three half-centuries.
Derbyshire elite performance director Graeme Welch said: "Billy is currently playing the best cricket of his life
"He has done everything we have asked of him during the winter and he's now reaping the benefits.
"He has put in the hard work and continues to improve both as a cricketer and as a person. He's become a leader amongst the team and we hope his form can continue."
The 26-year-old Londoner, who previously played for Middlesex and Essex, has made 90 first-class appearances during his career racking up 4,382 runs.
