Yorkshire secured a six-wicket victory over Worcestershire at Headingley to join Gloucestershire at the top of the Royal London One-Day Cup Group A table with their third victory from four matches.
It took Yorkshire only 30.2 overs to overhaul their opponents' 141 all out after Tim Bresnan had taken four wickets and, although they lost four wickets on the way, they experienced few uncomfortable moments.
There was an early upset for Yorkshire as Alex Lees (3) spooned a catch to Tom Fell in Mitchell McClenaghan's first over but Adam Lyth and New Zealand batsman Kane Williamson added 50 before Lyth edged Joe Leach to wicketkeeper Ben Cox for a patient 14.
McClenaghan, who had been punished with three fours in an over by Williamson, gained his revenge by having him lbw for 43 off 63 balls with seven boundaries. Williamson had survived a chance near the start of his innings when he was put down at second slip by Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who had to leave the field with a finger injury.
Eager to get on with it, skipper Andrew Gale's first six scoring shots were all boundaries and he found the rope again before McClenaghan bowled him for 29 to leave Yorkshire on 100-4.
Jack Leaning (20no) and Adil Rashid (27no) were in no mood to hang about either and the fifth-wicket pair needed only seven overs to knock off the remaining runs.
Worcestershire found batting a constant struggle after a 3-0 spell in two overs from Bresnan had helped reduce them to 54-5 and it was only a last-wicket stand of 39, the highest of the innings, between Leach (43no) and McClenaghan (16) that gave the total an air of respectability.
Bresnan finished with 4-28 from 7.2 overs, leg-spinner Rashid claimed 3-21 and 16-year-old seam bowler Matthew Fisher (1-29) impressed with a hostile spell in which he got rid of opener Daryl Mitchell, the only top-order batsman to show any sort of form.
Elsewhere in Group A, Lancashire ended their run of three defeats by recording a 101-run win over Derbyshire at the County Ground.
Derbyshire, in contrast, were unbeaten in three matches before the contest but the visitors’ total of 300-8 proved to be far too much and they could muster only 199 all out in response.
Wayne White took 4-33 as Derbyshire were dismissed with more than nine overs remaining. Lancashire’s innings had earlier been built on half-centuries from Ashwell Prince, Karl Brown, Alex Davies and Steven Croft
Derbyshire’s Tony Palladino returned his best limited-overs figures of 5-49 but could not stop Prince (57) and Brown (59) gradually increasing the tempo with a stand of 64 for the second wicket.
Prince was bowled trying to sweep David Wainwright and Brown was caught behind off a bottom-edged pull against Palladino.
Lancashire lost skipper Paul Horton (19) in Palladino's next over when he was caught at point off a ball that stopped on him but Davies (53) lifted Footitt over the wicketkeeper's head for the first six as he and Croft (51) accelerated in the last 10 overs.
Derbyshire's chase started badly when the dangerous Durston (2) was trapped lbw playing back to Tom Bailey, who struck again by tempting Scott Elstone (2) into a wild drive at a wide ball with only 28 on the board.
When Billy Godleman (23) also fell to a reckless cut at Jordan Clark and Marcus North (8) top-edged to backward point, Derbyshire's hopes rested with Madsen, who proved only temporary respite with his 49 from 37 balls.
To complete a miserable day for Derbyshire, 19-year-old seamer Tom Taylor suffered what appeared to be a serious ankle injury.
