Scott Elstone has been rewarded for his impressive start to the season by signing a two-year contract extension with Derbyshire.
The batting all-rounder joined the county on a one-year deal over the winter, having had an extended trial period at the County Ground last year.
He hit form with an innings of 212 not out for the second XI side against Worcestershire last month.
Having previously featured in just limited overs formats, Elstone was handed his first-class debut in the drawn County Championship Division Two match against Kent earlier this month.
The 23-year-old may be given further chances to impress after committing himself to Derbyshire until the end of the 2016 season.
Elite performance director Graeme Welch said: "Since I have been at the club, I have been impressed with Scott's attitude, professionalism and work ethic and we're delighted to have now tied him to the club for the next two seasons."
