Middlesex have signed experienced Australia batsman Adam Voges as their overseas player for 2015.

Voges will captain Middlesex in the County Championship and replaces Chris Rogers, who is expected to be an integral part of Australia’s Test series next summer, after previously doing the same in 2013.

The 35-year-old has excelled as captain of Western Australia but Middlesex have also confirmed that Eoin Morgan will continue to captain the side in white ball competitions.

My aim is to help lead the team towards success in all three formats of the game and I strongly believe we have a squad capable of doing that.

Middlesex CCC’s managing director Angus Fraser said: “We are delighted to welcome Adam back to the club.

“During the time he previously spent with us he made an extremely positive impression both on and off the pitch. He is a fine player, as he is showing in Australian domestic cricket, and a top man.”

“The absence of Chris Rogers, who we believe will be touring England with Australia in 2015, has left a major hole to fill and we believe that in Adam we have a more than capable replacement.

Voges himself said: “I am delighted to have re-joined Middlesex and hugely honoured to be captaining the club in four-day cricket.
