Former Middlesex captain Neil Dexter has agreed a contract extension to stay at the county until the end of next season.

The 30-year-old all-rounder moved to Middlesex five years ago from Kent and has gone on to play more than 215 games for the club, scoring over 6,600 runs and taking 137 wickets.

"Neil is the sort of cricketer every club wants on their staff, said Middlesex managing director of cricket Angus Fraser.

"He plays and contributes in all three forms of the game. He has many good years of cricket left in him, and I hope those are spent at Middlesex."

Dexter captained Middlesex between 2010 and 2013 and led the team to promotion as Division Two county champions in 2011.

This season, he has scored 457 runs in the County Championship at an average of 32.64 and taken 15 wickets at 39.93.
