Moeen Ali starred for Worcestershire with both bat and ball on another busy night in the NatWest T20 Blast.

At Worcester, the England all-rounder served up a reminder of his talents with bowling figures of 3-28 to restrict Derbyshire to 136-7 - and then hit an innings-opening 65 as Worcestershire stayed top of the North Group with an emphatic eight-wicket victory.

Captain Wes Durston top-scored for the Falcons with just 29 and their bowlers never stood a chance as Daryl Mitchell (33no) played second fiddle to Ali, helping the Rapids reach the target with a massive 43 balls to spare.

There was drama at Northampton, as James Faulkner blasted 73 before falling to the last ball as Northamptonshire snatched a four-run win over Lancashire.

Josh Cobb (47) and Alex Wakely (36no) set the foundation for the Steelbacks to post 169-5 and although Faulkner came in at 55-4 to smash four sixes during his brilliant 45-ball knock, he was caught and bowled by the impressive Azharullah (3-28) to decide the game.

A brutal 48-ball 92no from Australia star Glenn Maxwell helped Yorkshire to an easy 40-run victory over Nottinghamshire at Headingley.

Andy Hodd (70) helped Maxwell carry the Vikings to a total of 209-4 and only a spirited effort from Samit Patel (90no) saw the Outlaws get even vaguely close, with Maxwell picking up 2-31 with the ball.

At Edgbaston, Niall O'Brien (40no) and Umar Akmal (52no) shared an unbroken fifth-wicket stand of 93 as Leicestershire breezed past Birmingham by seven wickets with nine balls to spare.

Tim Ambrose's carefully-crafted 66no saw the Bears post a solid 160-5 but after Mark Cosgrove (44) had set the tone for the Foxes, O'Brien and Akmal ruthlessly reeled off the remainder to ensure victory.

In the local derby at Bristol, Johann Myburgh shone with 63 as Somerset recorded a nerve-jangling five-wicket win over Gloucestershire in the South Group.

Somerset overcame Gloucestershire Gladiators by five wickets

Michael Klinger led from the front for the hosts with 44 as they posted 165 from their 20 overs but, after some shaky moments, Myburgh's 50-ball knock provided the platform for Somerset to edge home with two balls to spare.

Darren Stevens was the star of the show for in-form Kent at The Oval as he smashed 10 fours and five sixes in a 39-ball 90 that decimated the Surrey bowling attack and ultimately sealed a 54-run victory.

With able support from Daniel Bell-Drummond (38) and Sam Northeast (32), Stevens' remarkable effort saw the visitors post a colossal 231-7 and, although Tom Curran (41) and Gary Wilson (55) showed defiance, Surrey fell well short.

At Southampton, Sussex overcame Hampshire by seven wickets thanks to Craig Cachopa (89no) and Matt Machan (56no), who put on 146 to help the Sharks chase down Hampshire's target of 157-6 with seven balls to spare.

James Vince (41) and the veteran Owais Shah (36) ensured the hosts posted a par score and they were firmly in the driving seat when they took the first three Sussex wickets for just 14 runs - only to bring Cachopa and Machan together for a clinical match-winning partnership.

England hopeful Ravi Bopara made the headlines at Chelmsford with both bat and ball as his 52 runs and three wickets secured Essex a 16-run victory over Glamorgan. Nick Brown (38) also made a significant contribution for the Eagles as they set 187-7.

Glamorgan looked to be favourites for victory with Colin Ingram (70) and Graham Wagg (44) at the crease but Bopara (3-25) and former Australia quick Shaun Tait (3-33) took wickets at crucial times to leave the Welsh side 171 all out.
