Somerset have signed Twenty20 world record holder Richard Levi for their Friends Life t20 campaign.
The South African batsman smashed the fastest international century - off just 45 balls - against New Zealand in February in just his second match.
Somerset have also signed another South African, all-rounder Albie Morkel, and had originally hoped to bring in former West Indies captain Chris Gayle.
But the Jamaican opener pulled out of the deal in a bid to resurrect his one-day international career.
The Taunton side then turned to Faf du Plessis, but he was called into the South Africa A squad for the visit of Sri Lanka and the T20 series with Zimbabwe.
Levi is currently plying his trade for the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League and will join his Somerset team-mates at the conclusion of the tournament.
