Eight Essex players have signed new contracts including Ravi Bopara, Graham Napier and Mark Pettini.
Bopara has had a torrid time with England in the last 12 months and Essex may see more of him next season.
The 27-year-old could now be facing a spell in the cold at international level as a result, but remains a key part of his county's plans after signing a new one-year deal.
Coach Paul Grayson said: "It has been a tough summer for Ravi but we want to keep him at Essex for as long as we can because of the ability he possesses.
"He is able to give some massive performances for Essex next season and I'm delighted he has signed a new contract."
All-rounder Napier, 32, has bagged a new two-year contract that will extend his time at Chelmsford to 15 years.
Former captain and batsman Pettini, 29, has signed up for two years until the 2014 season, while 25-year-old paceman Maurice Chambers has committed for 12 months.
Youngsters Jaik Mickleburgh, Tom Westley, Tymal Mills and Ben Foakes have all signed two-year contracts with the club.
Chief executive David East said: "Successful teams flow in cycles and we now have an amazing crop of talented youngsters maturing together.
"I believe they provide the platform for us to achieve many honours in the years to come."
