Peter Siddle will miss Nottinghamshire's opening County Championship match of the season against Lancashire due to a delay with his visa.
The Australian fast bowler was expected to arrive in time for the fixture which begins on Sunday at Trent Bridge but he will now be targeting the game with Middlesex.
Head coach Mick Newell told the club's website: "Peter wanted to play against Lancashire and we want him in the team but the speed of the process is out of our hands which is frustrating.
"Everything that could be done has been done but we'll get him in the side to face Middlesex at Lord's.
"He's had some visa issues complicated by the fact that he was in South Africa until the middle of March so he couldn't apply for a visa until he got back."
Siddle played in every game of Australia's Ashes whitewash last winter, and also the first two Tests in South Africa last month.
