Farbrace: Kent exit after two years as director of cricket

Paul Farbrace is standing down as Kent's director of cricket after two years in the job.

Farbrace took charge in 2009 but failed to oversee an instant return to the top flight of the County Championship after relegation in his first season.

Kent finished second bottom of Division Two in 2011 and did not contend in any of the limited-overs competitions.

"It has been a privilege to be director of cricket," Farbrace told Kent's official website.

"I have enjoyed working with the group of players and wish them well. I am now looking forward to the future and I will always have good memories of my time at Kent."

News of Farbrace's departure came on the same day it was confirmed batsmen Joe Denly and Martin van Jaarsveld will not be returning next season.

Denly, an England international as recently as 2009, has joined Middlesex, while Van Jaarsveld - a key member of Kent's middle order for the last seven seasons - has moved to Leicestershire.
