Pakistan spinner Saeed Ajmal says his remodelled bowling action has passed a ‘private test’ ahead of an official International Cricket Council examination next week.

Ajmal was banned from international cricket in September after his action was reported during an August Test match against Sri Lanka.

However, having changed his action, the 37-year-old says he has passed a test conducted in a laboratory in Edgbaston.

He now faces an ICC test in Chennai on January 24 and it appears possible that he could yet be selected for Pakistan’s World Cup squad.

Ajmal is the second-highest rated bowler in the ICC’s ODI rankings and has taken 183 wickets in 111 matches at an average of just 22.18.

Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan has ruled out Ajmal's participation in the

Upcoming World Cup but, under ICC rules, all teams can replace a player before the February 7 deadline.

Ajmal took 63 wickets in just nine LV= County Championship matches for Worcestershire last season and the county have confirmed they would like to re-sign him for the 2015 season if his new action is cleared.

And he told the Worcestershire website: “I cleared the private test.

“The tests were conducted in Edgbaston and all my deliveries including the 'doosra' were within 15 degrees (the arm is not allowed to bend further than that).

"Look, I want to be as confident in my bowling as I was before and I want to be effective, so whether I can still play the World Cup or cannot play, remains to be seen.

"I want to do what is best for my country and for my team."
