Worcestershire: Profit in 2011

Sky Bet

Worcestershire have announced a profit after interest of more than £200,000 for the year ending September 30, 2011.

The figure of £211,893 compares with a surplus of £88,981 for the previous 12 months - an increase of £122,912.

Income accounted for £2,893,336 compared to expenditure of £2,502,143 - a surplus of £391,193 before interest.

The Royals achieved their primary goal of retaining their LV= County Championship Division One status in their first season since being promoted to the top flight.

Chief executive David Leatherdale said: "Having gained promotion, retaining this status for 2012 was a key target and managing this with a young, developing squad is a major achievement.

Exciting

"The support from members and spectators continues to be strong which has seen a growth in revenue from both membership and ticket sales, as well as an increase in physical numbers attending matches.

"The recent announcement with regards the potential new hotel and additional conference facilities for the club will continue to develop the club as a 365-day-a-year sporting and conference venue.

"In these uncertain economic times, it is key to our sustainability as one of only 18 first-class county clubs.

"I am sure 2012 will be another challenging year but we hope to continue the progress made during 2011, both on and off the pitch, and look forward to another exciting summer ahead."
