Former England fast bowler Kabir Ali has been released by Lancashire.
The Birmingham-born seamer picked up a shoulder injury during the latter part of the 2014 season which needed surgery and will require a long period of rehabilitation.
On that basis, both parties have agreed that a new contract would not be offered.
Kabir made his first class debut in 1999 for Worcestershire and spent the next 11 years at New Road during which time he won England honours in 2003. He played in one Test match for his country - taking five wickets in the match against South Africa - and played in 14 one-day internationals.
He also represented Hampshire before arriving at Old Trafford in November 2012 where he became a key member of Lancashire’s bowling unit.
Lancashire cricket director and head coach Ashley Giles said: “Whilst Kabir has only been with Lancashire for two years, he has made a significant contribution particularly in the one-day formats.
“The injury came at a really unfortunate time for him and we would all like to thank him for his contribution at Emirates Old Trafford. We wish him well for the future.”
Kabir added: “I have had an enjoyable time at Lancashire and I have made some good friends along the way.
“My injury came at the wrong time and I will assess my situation after my rehabilitation in six months’ time.”
