Runs proved hard to come by in the 38 overs of play possible on day two of the LV= County Championship match between Lancashire at Kent at Emirates Old Trafford.

Runs proved hard to come by in the 38 overs of play possible on the second day of the LV= County Championship match between Lancashire at Kent at Emirates Old Trafford.

Just 71 runs were scored in between the breaks for rain, with Kent managing to add just 28 to their overnight score before they were dismissed for 244.

Indeed, it took just 25 balls for Lancashire to wrap up the visitors' first innings in the morning session.

James Anderson bowled both Mark Davies and Kent captain James Tredwell, who made 40 from 70 deliveries, to finish with figures of 4-57.

Lancashire found life equally tough in their reply as they finished on 43-2 from 34 overs.

The first boundary of their innings did not arrive until the 12th over but after a short rain break, Luke Procter perished thanks to a fine catch by Tredwell at second slip off the bowling of Darren Stevens.

A total of 55 overs were lost due to the weather until play got back underway at 5.30pm, giving Kent just enough time to dismiss Paul Horton for a battling 15 from 92 balls.

Anderson proved a reliable nightwatchman, even slashing a four through point to get off the mark, as he kept Karl Brown (11 not out) company through to stumps.
