Hampshire have signed South Africa fast bowler Kyle Abbott as their overseas player for 2014.
Abbott has only played one Test for South Africa but he made a huge impact in it, taking 7-29, and match figures of 9-68, against Pakistan last year.
He has played two one-day internationals and one Twenty20 match for his country, and the Dolphins star has taken 165 first class wickets, at an average of 21.92.
"To have a bowler of Kyle's quality available for the entire 2014 campaign is a huge boost," said Hampshire director of cricket Giles White. "He comes highly recommended both as a player and a person and we look forward to him joining up with the squad in April."
Abbott said: "It's been an ambition of mine to play county cricket and I have heard great things about Hampshire. I am excited about the opportunity and am grateful that Cricket South Africa has given me permission to play, subject to my Dolphins and South African commitments.
"I look forward to meeting up with the Hampshire team in early April and hopefully I can contribute to some good wins."
Abbott will join the club in time for their second county championship match of the season against Gloucestershire on April 13.
