Durham and England fast bowler Graham Onions has broken a finger and has been ruled out of action for 10 days.
Onions suffered the injury to his right hand - his bowling hand - whilst taking a catch during the YB40 victory over Scotland on Sunday.
Durham are hopeful that he should be able to bowl within 10 days, with the County Championship match with Surrey on August 22 the target.
The fifth Test between England and Australia begins the previous day at the Oval.
Onions could feature, although if the England selectors do make changes to the bowling attack, the nature of the pitch means Surrey's Chris Tremlett is more likely to be picked.
A Durham statement read: "Graham Onions has been ruled out of Durham's Yorkshire Bank fixtures this week after he suffered a broken finger in yesterday's match against Scotland.
"Onions has a break in his little finger on his right hand in his knuckle joint which was sustained in an attempt to catch the ball off his own bowling.
"At this stage Onions is hoping to be fit to play in Durham's next LV= County Championship match against Surrey commencing on Thursday August 22nd."
The seamer tweeted: "How's my luck?! Unfortunately yesterday I broke my little pinky dropping a catch off my own bowling so I won't be travelling today."
