England fast bowler Chris Jordan has been ruled out for six weeks with a side strain.

The Sussex star suffered the injury in the one-day series with New Zealand.

Jordan, 26, has won eight Test caps but was not included in England’s 14-man training squad for the Ashes series, which begins on 8 July.

In a further blow for Sussex, fast bowler Ajmal Shahzad is not expected to play again this season because of a pectoral injury.

Shahzad, who joined Sussex from Nottinghamshire in the winter, missed four weeks of action earlier this season with the injury.
