Birmingham Bears moved second in the t20 Blast North Group with a six wicket victory over Yorkshire Vikings at Edgbaston.

The Vikings won the toss and elected to bat but after a slow start were unable to ever really recover.

Andrew Gale, Andy Hodd and Alex Lees were already back in the hutch when Australia international Glenn Maxwell miscued Recordo Gordon's slower ball to deep square leg for a duck to leave Yorkshire 36-4.

Aaron Finch remained at the crease but despite his best efforts, he struggled to significantly up the run rate. He chopped on to spinner Josh Poysden for 30 leaving Jack Leaning and Tim Bresnan to try and rescue the innings.

Bresnan (16) was caught behind off the first ball of the penultimate over before Leaning, after hitting 45 off 44 balls, chipped to long off from the final ball of the 20 overs.

Ian Bell fell early in the Birmingham reply, bowled by Maxwell for five and the all-rounder had Varun Chopra caught for three soon after.

At 15-2, the Vikings looked right in the game. However, from that point onwards Will Porterfield and Tim Ambrose set about taking it away from them.

Porterfield hauled out for a quick-fire 42 but Laurie Evans (32no) continued where he had left off. Ambrose was bowled by Steven Patterson with the scores level but Rikki Clarke hit his second ball to the rope to seal the win for the Bears with eight balls to spare.

In the South Group, Sussex beat Glamorgan by 10 wickets in just 12.2 overs to record their fourth t20 Blast win of the summer.

Having been put in, Glamorgan made a terrible start as they lost Jacques Rudolph off just the second ball of the innings - caught and bowled by Oliver Robinson.

Craig Meschede also fell for a duck to leave Glamorgan 1-2 and that soon became 23-5 as Colin Ingram, Ben Wright and Mark Wallace managed just a single apiece.

Chris Cook held the innings together and made a much needed 45 from 42 balls before Chris Liddle had him caught by Ashar Zaidi. Wayne Parnell bludgeoned 32 from 26 before falling to Robinson (3-16) in the final over as Glamorgan limped to a total of 115-9.

Chris Nash and Luke Wright began the response for Sussex and soon got on top of the bowling to ensure they coasted to victory with more than seven overs to spare.

Nash hit six fours and two maximums on his way to 53 not out while Wright (57no) hit a total of seven boundaries, including two sixes of his own.

Indeed, it was the second of those maximums that sealed the win for the Sharks, who leapfrog Glamorgan in the South Group standings.
