Notts Outlaws beat Middlesex by 77 runs in a rain affected match at the Kia Oval.

Alex Hales and James Taylor both scored centuries as Nottinghamshire kept their quarter-final hopes alive with victory over Middlesex in their Royal London One-Day Group B match, under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Hales smashed 141 in 96 balls and was ably supported by Michael Lumb’s 81 as the visitors put up a huge 368-2. However, James Taylor arguably stole the show with an unbeaten 100, which he brought up courtesy of a six off the final ball off a rain-reduced innings of 45 overs.

Taylor’s century came in just 55 balls and included seven sixes, while Hales’s total included four maximums and 19 boundaries.

After a deluge meant a lengthy delay to play, Middlesex were set a target of 158 by the Duckworth-Lewis method, but they were in trouble from the start.

Skipper Eoin Morgan (19) was one of only three players to make double figures, his England ODI colleague Harry Gurney taking 4-16 with the ball, as the home side came up 77 runs short.

Elsewhere, captain Varun Chopra guided Warwickshire to victory over Glamorgan at Swansea, also under the Duckworth-Lewis method.

Glamorgan scored 225-7 in 39 overs when heavy rain caused a near three-hour delay, leaving the Bears, who are still in the mix to reach the quarter-finals, needing to score 90 to win from 10 overs.

Earlier, the mainstay of Glamorgan's innings was a pair of half-centuries from Jacques Rudolph and Murray Goodwin.

Rudolph's came from 71 balls and saw him share in a stand of 76 in 12 overs with Murray Goodwin, who passed the landmark in just 40 deliveries.

At Chester-Le-Street a stand of 116 in 18 overs between Paul Collingwood and Keaton Jennings carried Durham to a five-wicket home win against Surrey in their final Group B game.

Rain cut short the visitors' innings on 189-6 after 44.5 overs and after a break of more than two hours Durham were required to score 198 in 37 overs.

The hosts had reached 11-2 after three overs when a short break saw the target revised to 190 in 33 and they surpassed the total with nine balls to spare.

They had slipped to 69-4 when Collingwood emerged to complete an outstanding all-round performance, having taken 2-25 in 10 overs, before thumping an unbeaten 62 off 56 balls.

Durham now have to wait until the other teams have played their final games next Wednesday to discover whether they have qualified for the quarter-finals.
