Nottinghamshire moved clear at the top of the County Championship with a one-wicket victory against Lancashire at Aigburth.
Set a target of 170, Nottinghamshire were reduced to 119-7 before skipper Chris Read's 40 not out saw them over the line in an exciting finale on the third evening.
Lancashire had earlier gone from an overnight 55-2 to 205 all out in their second innings, Usman Khawaja's 53 the top score.
Left-arm seamer Harry Gurney removed Khawaja among figures of 4-22 in nine overs as Lancashire lost their last eight wickets for 106 runs.
Lancashire skipper Glen Chapple (3-59) and fellow seamer Tom Smith (3-38) each claimed three wickets to revive the home side, only for Read and Luke Fletcher to combine in an eighth-wicket stand of 44.
Kabir Ali (2-30) removed Fletcher (18) with seven still needed and, later in the same over with the scores level, Andre Adams (6) was caught on the boundary.
That brought Nottinghamshire No 11 Gurney to the middle and his single off Chapple's bowling clinched victory for the visitors.

Northants began the final day on 108-5 chasing a target of 404 and produced a lower-order rearguard before being bowled out for 351 in the evening session.
Kyle Coetzer (54), Adam Rossington (62), Andrew Hall (66) and David Willey (53) all hit half-centuries as the home side raised hopes of their first championship win of the season.
Hall and Willey put on 100 for the ninth wicket to reduce Northants' requirement to 53 before Gregory trapped Willey lbw and Craig Overton removed Hall in the next over to finish the game.
At Chester-le-Street, Durham lost by an innings and 188 runs against Warwickshire after their batting collapsed twice on day three.
Resuming on 62-3 in reply to Warwickshire's first-innings 472, Durham were bowled out for 171 and, after being made to follow-on, 113.
John Hastings' 51 from No 8 in the first innings was the only half-century from a home batsman as they managed to lose 17 wickets in the day.
Warwickshire seamer Keith Barker took eight wickets in the match, including 6-46 in the first innings, while spinner Jeetan Patel picked up 5-49 in the second innings.
