Marcus Trescothick’s third hundred of the season put Somerset in command at the halfway stage of their Division One clash with Lancashire at Taunton.
The Somerset captain ended day two unbeaten on 107 - surpassing Lionel Palairet as the leading first-class run-maker at Taunton - as the Cidermen closed on 193-2 in reply to Lancashire’s 266 all out.
Trescothick, who has now registered 54 first-class centuries since making his debut in 1993, backed up his bowlers after they had mopped up the Red Rose tail in the morning session.
Lewis Gregory, Alfonso Thomas and George Dockerell all finished with three wickets apiece to hand Somerset maximum bowling points before Trescothick got to work with the bat.
