Warwickshire have bolstered their bowling attack for next season with the signing of Richard Jones from Worcestershire.

The paceman has signed a one-year contract with the 2012 county champions after a loan spell at Edgbaston was cut short by injury last summer.

The 27-year-old made 41 first-class appearances for Worcestershire after making his debut in 2007.

He joined Warwickshire on loan in August, but he picked up an injury during his first net session which ended his season.

But he had now joined on a permanent deal, and Warwickshire director of cricket Dougie Brown is delighted with the signing.

"Richard is an exciting prospect and is a very good addition to our squad. His arrival will create even more competition for places amongst a very strong bowling line-up," said the former England all-rounder.

"He settled in to the squad very well when he joined on trial in August, and Graeme Welch and I are looking forward to working with him ahead of the new season."

Jones added: "Warwickshire have been one of the top teams in the LV= County Championship for several years and the chance to work with Dougie Brown, (bowling coach) Graeme Welch and a team of top-class fast bowlers is a fantastic opportunity for me.

"I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Worcestershire but feel at 27-years-old a new challenge will give me the opportunity to push for a place in both the four-day and one-day formats.

"I would like to thank the County for their support over recent years and for their help in facilitating my move to pastures new."
