Chris Rushworth has capped a superb season with Durham by committing his future to the county on a two-year deal.
The Sunderland-born seamer came through the Durham Academy and made a massive breakthrough during the 2012 campaign.
After being more of a one-day specialist, he took 38 Division One wickets in nine games with a stingy 16.39 average that was third best in the country behind team-mate Graham Onions and Somerset's Abdur Rehman.
"Im delighted to sign a new contract extension with Durham CCC," Rushworth told the club's official website.
"2012 was a tough season for the club but on a personal level I was delighted to take 38 Championship wickets, and felt for the first time Id really established myself in the first team.
"Im hoping to push on to the next level in 2013, a huge year for the club, and hopefully we can perform to the levels we know we can and bring some silverware back to Emirates Durham"
