Graeme Smith has distanced himself from rumours linking him to a move to Surrey.
The South African skippered his nation to a Test series victory over England this summer, although he no longer plays international cricket at T20 level.
Surrey are seeking a new captain, following the loss of Rory Hamilton-Brown who recently quit The Oval for Sussex.
But any possibility of Smith moving into the county game in 2013 appears to be unlikely, as he tweeted: "I'm constantly approached about opportunities at home and abroad and always consider them.
"I remain committed to the Proteas and my international career."
Meanwhile, Surrey declined to comment on reports they have signed Vikram Solanki from Worcestershire.
