Ben Wheeler will come into the New Zealand squad for the upcoming one-day international series against England because Adam Milne has not fully recovered from a heel injury.

Milne, 23, was ruled out of the recent World Cup ahead of the semi-final against South Africa due to the injury and he was replaced by Matt Henry, who went on to play in the final and is currently in the midst of his Test debut against England at Lord’s.

And Milne will have to sit out the five one-day matches which will take place between June 9-20.

New Zealand coach Mike Hesson said: “It has been a hard time for Adam.

"He has worked really hard to get back to full fitness but, unfortunately, he is still suffering pain and is unable to bowl at his best.

Wheeler, a 23-year-old left-arm seamer, played for the tourists in their warm-up match against Somerset and took 5-18 in the first innings.

Hesson added: “He showed great composure against Somerset and he has a big future
