South Africa will rest key players for the remainder of their one-dayers against West Indies after securing an unassailable 3-0 lead in the five-match series.

The Proteas will take the opportunity to rotate their squad as they continue their preparations for the World Cup, which gets under way in Australia and New Zealand next month.

Pace bowler Dale Steyn has already been sent home for the final two matches, with the fourth ODI in the series taking place in Port Elizabeth on Sunday.

Hashim Amla will be rested for that match before returning for the finale in Pretoria on Wednesday when captain AB de Villiers will be rested.

South Africa are also hopeful that wicketkeeper Quinton de Kock will be able to return from an ankle injury in Pretoria.

"We want to play everybody that is in the squad so we will use these next two games as an opportunity for some of the fringe players to stake a claim and to put in some performances for us," Proteas coach Russell Domingo said in a Cricket South Africa statement.

Domingo is also hopeful Morne van Wyk can be added to the squad to keep wicket instead of De Villiers on Sunday, with De Kock in line to take over behind the stumps on Wednesday if he is passed fit by medical staff.
