James Anderson's disciplinary hearing over his alleged incident with Ravi Jajeda has begun.
The England pace bowler, who was man of the match in the third Test win over India at the Ageas Bowl, stands accused of "abusing and pushing" Jadeja during last month's first Investec Test at Trent Bridge.
Anderson's evidence will be heard via video conference with International Cricket Council judicial commissioner Gordon Lewis in Melbourne as he ponders the Level 3 charge levied against him.
Legal counsel will be deployed by the England and Wales Cricket Board, along with eye witnesses to events in the Trent Bridge pavilion stairwell where the alleged incident took place.
Anderson may not discover his fate - up to a four-Test ban if found guilty - until the weekend, taking into account the time difference logistics facing Lewis.
England captain Alastair Cook admitted on Thursday England had explored their options in case Anderson is banned.
Cook would still have five frontline seam options at his disposal, with Ben Stokes and Liam Plunkett having missed out on selection at Southampton.
"You can call on six seamers," said Cook.
"For Chris Woakes not to get a wicket, after bowling like he did and at the paces he did with that control...
"We left people like Ben Stokes and Liam Plunkett out, who have done really well as well. So that's a 13-man squad, which is fantastic."
