Chris Jordan hopes to seize his chance to impress if selected by England for the third Test against India.
The Sussex paceman is targeting a place in England’s bowling attack after he impressed in the 226-run win over Warwickshire, finishing with second-innings figures of 3-38.
Jordan is likely to be considered after last week's 95-run defeat in the second Test at Lord's and could return to the Ageas Bowl, the scene of his international debut.
He said: “The squad were always going to come into play because you’re playing five test matches in six weeks and the guys are bowling a lot of overs as you saw.
“They had quite a flat pitch at Trent Bridge and then followed up by going straight into the field at Lord’s and that’s never easy on the body, but the guys are recovering well and looking after their bodies as good as possible so we just have to see how it goes.
“All the bowlers are bowling as best as they can be and the guys are doing well so you never know what the selectors have in mind, but as I said if I get the nod then I hope to make an impact.”
And the 25-year-old is confident he can take his recent county form into the match against India.
He added: “If I do get the nod then I’ll be hoping to come in as I did this game and smash my areas hopefully be in a position to affect the game, but that’s a little way off so we will see how we rock up on Sunday.”
