Charlotte Edwards made 70 to no avail as MCC Women lost by 41 runs to a Rest of the World team at Lord's on Monday.
Held as part of celebrations to mark the cricket ground's 200th anniversary, the World team notched a formidable 283 runs from their 50 overs.
Mithali Raj top-scored with 67 and Meg Lanning hit 59, while Kate Cross was the pick of the MCC bowlers, taking 4-48.
In reply, MCC skipper Edwards and fellow opener Heather Knight put on 98 for the first wicket to give their side real hope of a successful run chase.
However, when Knight fell for 51, caught by Rachel Priest off Shashikala Siriwardene, it sparked a mini-collapse which left MCC languishing at 166-6.
Natalie Sciver and Danielle Hazell (22) added 49 for the seventh wicket to stage a recovery, but Sciver fell for 45 to Siriwardene (2-41) as MCC were eventually bowled out for 242 with two balls remaining.
Sana Mir took 4-36, while Priest held onto three catches and made two stumpings to ensure her side's success.
