England batsman Alex Hales has joined Worcestershire on a three-match loan from Nottinghamshire.
The 25-year-old heads to the County Championship Division Two leaders to provide cover for Moeen Ali, who was named in Peter Moores' England squad for next week's one-day international against Scotland.
Hales became the first England player to score a century in Twenty20 cricket with a 116 against Sri Lanka in March but has made just one County Championship appearance this term for Notts, who are keen to see him play some first-team cricket.
Worcestershire Director of Cricket Steve Rhodes said: "Everyone at New Road is delighted that Moeen has been selected for England in the fixture against Scotland.
"To lose a player of his quality is a blow to the team but to replace him with a loan player who is currently ranked as the number three T20 batsman in the world is a major coup for the club.
"He is keen to show his abilities in the four day format and impress the national selectors."
Hales will be available to face Glamorgan at the SWALEC Stadium on Sunday May 4th and would also be eligible for matches with Kent at Tunbridge Wells and Surrey at the Kia Oval.
Whether he could also take part in a home fixture with Essex beginning on May 18th would depend on his involvement in England's Twenty20 international with Sri Lanka on May 20th.
