Durham opener Mark Stoneman has signed a one-year contract extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2016 season.

The Academy graduate made his debut in 2007 and has become a key player for Durham, scoring 1068 runs in Division One as they won the County Championship title last season.

He was also part of the Championship-winning squads in 2008 and 2009 but he has made a place at the top of the order his own since the departure of Australian Michael Di Venuto.

He was the club's Batsmen of the Year in 2012, and in 2013 he captained the side when Paul Collingwood was out injured.
