New Zealand have recalled Tim Southee for their one-day international series against Bangladesh next month.

The pace spearhead was left out of the Test squad to give him more time to recover from ankle surgery, but selectors are confident he will be fit in time to feature in the three one-day clashes and a Twenty20 international.

Southee takes his place in an experienced squad, with batsman Anton Devcich the only uncapped player in the tour party.

The 27-year-old left-hander caught the eye of the selectors with an impressive 115 for New Zealand A against India A earlier this month.

Chairman of selectors Bruce Edgar said Devcich "is also an outstanding fielder with the ability to contribute as a left arm spin bowling option which will be useful in the sub-continent."

But the Black Caps will be without opener Martin Guptill and veteran spinner Daniel Vettori for the entire tour due to injury.

Captain Brendon McCullum is one of six players named in both the Test and one-day squads along with Corey Anderson, Tom Latham, Hamish Rutherford, Ross Taylor and Kane Williamson.

New Zealand ODI squad: B McCullum (Capt), C Anderson, A Devcich, G Elliott, T Latham, M McClenaghan, N McCullum, K Mills, A Milne, C Munro, J Neesham, H Rutherford, T Southee, R Taylor, K Williamson.
