Hampshire opener Michael Carberry has been included in England's 14-man squad for two Twenty20 internationals with Australia.
Carberry is the only member of the squad never to have played T20 cricket for England before and he will be hoping to be given a chance in the matches on his home ground, the Ageas Bowl, on August 29 and two days later at Durham.
Carberry, 32, has been in sensational form for Hampshire in limited overs cricket this season, averaging 56 in the Friends Life t20 competition.
Only two of the Test squad - T20 captain Stuart Broad and fast bowler Steve Finn - are included.
National selector Geoff Miller said: "With only eight international T20 matches until the ICC World T20 next April this NatWest series is an important chance for players to show they are capable of performing well at this level.
"The two matches will also allow Ashley Giles and Stuart Broad an opportunity to look at a number of different options.
"This squad combines players with plenty of international experience with players who have impressed at domestic level and who deserve an opportunity to test themselves in an international environment against what will no doubt be a strong Australian side."
