Brad Haddin has been called up to the Australia squad for their tour of India after Matthew Wade sprained his right ankle.
The veteran wicketkeeper has flown out as cover ahead of the third Test, which begins on Thursday in Mohali after Wade was injured playing basketball on Saturday.
Australian team physiotherapist Alex Kountouris said: "Matt has a complex ankle injury which has been confirmed by the scans and at this stage is in doubt for the third Test starting on Thursday.
"A final decision on whether he will be available for the third Test will be made closer to the match."
Australia are currently 2-0 down in the four-match series.
