India opener Virender Sehwag has paid the price for a poor run of form by being dropped from the squad for the third and fourth Tests against Australia.
Sehwag has managed scores of two, 19 and six in the four-match series so far and also struggled against England after making a century in the first Test in Ahmedabad.
No replacement has been named by India, who lead the four-match series 2-0, in an otherwise unchanged squad for the matches in Mohali and Delhi.
Shikhar Dhawan is now likely to open with Murali Vijay, although Ajinkya Rahane is another option.
Sehwag, 34, has vowed to win his place back and insists he has no intention of retiring.
He tweeted: "Will continue to work hard for my place in the team. I trust my game and am confident that, "I'll be back. Best wishes to the team."
Squad: Dhoni, Vijay, Tendulkar, Kohli, Dhawan, Jadeja, Sharma, Kumar, Harbhajan Singh, Ashwin, Ojha, Rahane, Dinda, Pujara.
