Angelo Mathews has been named captain of Sri Lanka's Test and one-day international sides.
The all-rounder replaces Mahela Jayawardene in both jobs on an initial 11-month agreement and will have Dinesh Chandimal as his vice-captain.
Wicket-keeper Chandimal, who has just five Tests under his belt, will take charge of the T20 side as part of a widely-expected revamp ahead of next month's home series against Bangladesh.
The Sri Lankan selectors, meanwhile, have named a 20-man squad for two Test matches which precede three ODIs and a single T20 international.
Spin bowler Ajantha Mendis, whose last Test was against England in Cardiff in May 2011, is included along with six players yet to make their debuts in the long format.
Among the notable omissions are Tharanga Paranavitana, Prasanna Jayawardene and Thilan Samaraweera, who has signed a deal to play county cricket for Worcestershire this season.
Squad: Mathews, Chandimal, Dilshan, Karunaratne, Silva, Sangakkara, Thirimanne, M Jayawardene, Perera, J Mendis, Vithanage, A Mendis, Randiv, Kulasekara, Eranga, Welegedera, Pradeep, Chameera, Herath, Kaushal.
