Andrew Hodd: initially moved to Headingley on loan from Sussex
Yorkshire have confirmed the permanent signing of wicketkeeper Andrew Hodd on a two-year deal.
Hodd initially moved to the Tykes on loan from Sussex last month to cover for Jonny Bairstow, who has been away on England duty, in the closing stages of the domestic season.
The 28-year-old has impressed sufficiently during his brief stay at Headingley to be awarded a contract until the end of 2014.
"It's great that the club have backed me and signed me," Hodd said.
"The way that Jason Gillespie and Martyn Moxon have been talking with me has been really positive...I feel part of the furniture already."
Yorkshire coach Gillespie admitted the county couldn't miss out on the opportunity of signing someone who is a "great lad and a very good cricketer".
"Andrew is one of the best wicketkeepers in the country, and you want the best players in your team," the Australian said.
"We've got no qualms about signing him, because he's a great lad and a very good cricketer. When lads like that come along, you snap them up."
