Mark Boucher: South African retired from international cricket due to eye injury
Mark Boucher underwent a second operation on his damaged left eye and surgeons are encouraged by the outcome.
The former South Africa wicketkeeper had to leave the Test tour of England following the career-ending injury he suffered when a bail hit him in the eye at Taunton on July 9.
Following an emergency operation in this country, he flew home and had a second exploratory procedure in Cape Town on July 19 - while his former team-mates were beginning their three-Test series against England at The Oval.
A Cricket South Africa statement confirmed the 35-year-old's latest surgery has gone well.
There were no unexpected complications or bleeding during the three-hour operation, and the press release reported "the outcome looks very positive, and the surgeon is pleased with the procedure".
The CSA statement added: "The Boucher family are extremely grateful for the support they have received from around the world, and we will keep Mark's well-wishers informed as and when appropriate information becomes available."
