Essex youngster Reece Topley has signed a new two-year contract with the club. The 17-year-old left-arm paceman has been rewarded for a superb debut season for the county in which he picked up 34 first-class wickets, including five-wicket hauls against Middlesex and Kent at the start of the 2011 campaign. Topley said: "I am delighted to have signed a new two-year contract with Essex, who now possess a really exciting group of fine young cricketers. "I really hope to be able to assist Essex in winning trophies and getting back to First Division cricket, which is very important to the club and myself." Meanwhile, wicketkeeper Ben Foakes has signed a professional contract with the club which will see the 18-year-old stay at the County Ground until 2013. Foakes, who featured alongside Topley for England U19 this summer, made his first-class debut for Essex against Sri Lanka in June, taking three catches and scoring five runs.
