Bangladesh have recalled fast bowler Mashrafe Mortaza for next month's one-day series against Australia in Dhaka.

Mortaza was left out of the World Cup squad after failing to recover from a knee injury, despite his insistence that he was fit to play.

The Tigers not only missed his express pace during the tournament but also his lower-order hitting, after they were dismissed for 58 by West Indies and 78 by South Africa.

Mortaza is named in a 14-man squad for the three-match series but there is no place for World Cup failures Mohammad Ashraful - who scored 18 in three matches - Junaid Siddique, Naeem Islam and Nazmul Hossain.

In comes all-rounder Alok Kapali for his first assignment since being dropped in 2008 as well as uncapped batsman Shuvagoto Hom. Shakib Al Hasan will once again captain the side.

"We shall form a team to investigate the failures of the players," said sports minister Ahad Ali Sarker. "And we'll take necessary measures to overcome these weaknesses."

Bangladesh: Shakib Al Hasan (capt), Tamim Iqbal (vice-capt), Imrul Kayes, Shahriar Nafees, Raqibul Hasan, Alok Kapali, Shuvagoto Hom, Mushfiqur Rahim, Mohammad Mahmudullah, Abdur Razzak, Suhrawadi Shuvo, Rubel Hossain, Mashrafe Mortaza, Shafiul Islam.
