Pollard confident ahead of England showdown

All-rounder Kieron Pollard says West Indies have drawn great strength from those who wrote them off at the start of the World Cup. After losing to South Africa in their Group B opener, the men from the Caribbean have reeled off three wins and can secure their quarter-final spot with another victory over England in Chennai on Thursday. England, who have played a game more, need a win to have any chance of extending their interest in the tournament. "Whatever England say about coming back, they are entitled to do that," said Pollard, who took a 23-ball half-century off the Netherlands and smashed 94 off 44 deliveries against Ireland. "We're just concentrating on what we have to do. "After losing that first match against South Africa, we've really bounced back as a team. "We have a lot of things that are driving us at the moment, one of the things being we were written off. We are using that as a motivating factor." Should West Indies lose to England, they will still progress to the last eight with victory over hosts India in their final group game in Chennai on Sunday.
