Batsman Ed Joyce has agreed a one-year contract extension to remain with Sussex until the end of the 2013 season.

The 32-year-old joined Sussex in 2009 from Middlesex and last season scored 590 County Championship runs in 15 innings.

He believes his move to Hove has benefitted his career, telling the county's official website: "I'm delighted to have signed an extension to my contract at Sussex.

"Since moving down to the south coast I feel my game has really moved on under the guidance of the coaches here.

"The next few years will be an exciting time for the club with all the ground development going on and we have a young and hungry squad of players.

"I'm chuffed that I've been given the opportunity to be a part of it for at least another three years."

Having represented England at the 2007 World Cup, Dubliner Joyce is now preparing to play for his birth country once again and was recently chosen in the provisional Irish squad for the 2011 World Cup after the International Cricket Council granted him special dispensation.
