Left-arm seamer Mitchell Starc is to miss the start of the Ashes after being ruled out for four weeks.
The 20-year-old had been tipped for a shock inclusion in the Australia squad after taking 4-27 against Sri Lanka in the third ODI on Sunday.
However Starc suffered a side strain while playing for New South Wales against Victoria in the Sheffield Shield on Thursday.
And although he batted on Friday he has now been told he faces a month on the sidelines - ruling him out of Australia A's team to face England.
Starc's replacement in Australia's second string will be named on Saturday.
