Nash, 27, made his debut in 2002 and has since established himself as a key performer for the county in all forms of the game.

He has scored almost 5,000 first-class run at an average of 38.48, including nine centuries.

"I am delighted to have extended my contract until the end of the 2013 season," said Nash on the Sussex's official website.

"Next season is going to be a very exciting one back in Division One and we are working very hard to make sure we can challenge for all three trophies.

"On a personal level, I would like to replicate my 2009 Championship form, whilst also building on my one-day and Twenty20 form from the past two seasons."

Sussex captain Michael Yardy has tipped Nash to stake a claim for England honours during the span of his new deal.

"I'm really pleased that Chris has re-signed," said Yardy.

"He is a fantastic team man and is maturing into an outstanding player.

"Hopefully he'll be pushing for higher honours within the game in the next couple of years."
