Tendulkar is rested for the three-match series along with spinners Harbhajan Singh, Pragyan Ojha and pace spearhead Zaheer Khan.

Sehwag is nursing a minor injury and joins opener Gautam Gambhir (knee) and seam bowler Ishant Sharma (knee) on the treatment table.

Delhi batsman Shikhar Dhawan is the only uncapped player in India's 14-man squad.

Australia are also resting several players ahead of the Ashes - skipper Ricky Ponting, all-rounder Shane Watson and left-arm paceman Mitchell Johnson are all returning home at the conclusion of the second Test in Bangalore on Wednesday.

The first one-day international takes place in Kochi on October 17, followed by matches in Visakhapatnam on October 20 and Goa on October 24.
