Worcestershire captain Vikram Solanki has been given three penalty points by the England and Wales Cricket Board after an incident in the recent LV= County Championship draw with Sussex.

Solanki, the Professional Cricketers' Association chairman who has played 51 one-day internationals for England, was reported by umpires David Millns and Nigel Llong for a level-two breach of the ECB's disciplinary code.

He was reported for throwing the ball at or near a player, umpire or official in an inappropriate and dangerous manner.

The points will remain on the 34-year-old's record for two years, with a suspension to be imposed should he accrue a total of nine penalty points in that time.
