Parnell: Injury blow
South Africa duo Wayne Parnell and Justin Kemp have been omitted from the Proteas' final squad for the World Twenty20 due to injury.
Both players suffered setbacks while competing in the ongoing Indian Premier League - Parnell hurting his groin in training with the Delhi Daredevils and Kemp sustaining a back problem during a match for the Chennai Super Kings.
The Parnell injury comes as a particular blow to the Proteas' chances with the 20-year-old quickly becoming an integral part of the T20 team since arriving on the international stage early last year.
Kemp was hoping to win a recall after a stint in the rebel Indian Cricket League, having last played for South Africa in 2007.
The 24-year-old seamer Juan Theron is the only uncapped player in the 15-man list, while little-known all-rounder Rory Kleinveldt has been included at the expense of Ryan McLaren.
The Proteas play warm-up matches against Sri Lanka on April 27 and England on April 28, both at the Kensington Oval. Their pool matches are against India at Beausejour (St Lucia) on May 2 and Afghanistan at the Kensington Oval on May 5.
South Africa 15-man squad: Graeme Smith (capt), Jacques Kallis (vice-capt), Loots Bosman, Johan Botha, Mark Boucher (wk), AB de Villiers, JP Duminy, Herschelle Gibbs, Charl Langeveldt, Rory Kleinveldt, Albie Morkel, Morne Morkel, Dale Steyn, Juan Theron, Roelof van der Merwe
