Harbhajan: kicked advertising board

Harbhajan Singh has been reprimanded by the International Cricket Council for damaging an advertising hoarding during the opening day of the second Test against Bangladesh in Dhaka.

"I would now expect him to maintain a certain level of self-control in future and avoid the repeat of the incident."
Andy Pycroft Quotes of the week

The off-spinner, who claimed 1-48 from 18.5 overs during Bangladesh's first innings of 233, kicked out after letting a lofted drive from Mahmudullah through to the boundary.

Match referee Andy Pycroft found him guilty of violating the part of the ICC code of conduct which relates to abuse of cricket equipment or clothing, ground equipment or fixtures and fittings.

Harbhajan admitted his mistake, apologised for the incident and accepted the match referee's decision.

Frustration

"I accepted Harbhajan's explanation that he had kicked the advertising board in frustration," Pycroft said.

"Professional cricketers try to give their best effort when they are on the field and whenever they don't live up to the standards they have set for themselves, they feel disappointed.

"However, venting their frustrations in this manner is unacceptable.

"I would now expect him to maintain a certain level of self-control in future and avoid the repeat of the incident."
