Pakistan wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed is likely to replace Kamran Akmal for the third Test against Australia following his fumbles in the defeat at Sydney.
Back-up gloveman Sarfraz has been called out to Australia and 'will be participating' at the Bellerive Oval according to a statement released by the Pakistan Cricket Board.
"The Pakistan Cricket Board shows its utmost concern over the poor performance of the Pakistan cricket team in the second Test match played in Sydney," said the statement.
"As an urgent action, it was agreed to send wicketkeeper Sarfraz Ahmed to Australia before the third Test to reinforce the wicketkeeping department.
"An overall review of the performance of the team shall be carried out by the board after completion of the Australian Tour."
Debut
Sarfraz, who has represented Pakistan in six ODIs but is yet to make his Test debut, was included in the 17-man squad that played three Tests against New Zealand in November and December, but was omitted from the Australian leg of the tour.
Kamran, a veteran of 48 Tests and brother of rising star Umar Akmal, appears to have lost his place in the line-up following his four dropped catches in Australia's second innings at the SCG and one missed run out.
He dropped century-maker Michael Hussey three times and Peter Siddle once as the pair extended the home side's lead from 80 at the end of day three to 175, with the tourists falling 36 runs short of chasing their modest target.
The final Test starts on January 14 with Australia, who have opted against making changes to their squad, holding an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
